This summer through many blog readings and my new teaching partner I decided to complete a book study. Notice and Note by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst was life changing.
I have taught remedial reading to 7th and 8th graders for one year, and after reading this book I realized they were at a huge disadvantage that first year. I could have done a much better job at teaching reading, instilling a love for reading, and teaching them life-long reading skills to help them analyze and think about what they are reading! Notice and Note is a must for any teacher who teaches reading in any grade level. It has definitely been a game changer for me. I will be implementing their Signposts and ways of teaching reading into my classroom this coming year. I will be a better teacher because of this book. EXCELLENT!!!
